Indemic has worked extensively with the University of Auckland ABI (Auckland Bioengineering Insititute) on a number of projects over the years - the Kitea Health ICP reader has been a real highlight of the work undertaken with the ABI.
Kitea Health is a University spin-off coming out of PHd research undertaken by Professor Simon Malpas into the challenges of monitoring the symptoms of Hydracephalus - an incurable condition often effecting children - in which Intra-Cranial Pressure (ICP) management has historically required clinical intervention. The management and monitoring of the condition brings with it a range of challenges and anxiety for families.
We worked with Kitea from early proof of concept right through to first manufactured product. This enabled Kitea achieve New Zealand human implant trials and ultimately on to succeed in achieving Breakthrough Device Designation with the US FDA. The ultimate goal for Kitea is to achieve commercial implants of a technology for managing Hydracephalus outside of the clinical environment.
Indemic was fortunate enough to work alongside an extraordinarily talented team of researchers and Engineers in the development of this product and is excited to watch Kitea continue to grow into one of Aotearoa’s great health-tech success stories.
